The reasons I want to help every client reach their goals and live their dreams.
I am blissfully living mine. I believe in the "pass it forward" Theory.
My wonderful wise and funny mother always told me I could do or be anything I wanted to.I accepted her words as the truth in my life and I never doubted that I could conquer any mountain I set out to climb. She died of Cancer when I was 28. I lost my best friend and my anchor. I was “on the ragged edge” for about 18 months as I grieved and mourned.Thank God I had a demanding job as Head Nurse in Cardiovascular Surgery at BishopClarksonHospital in OmahaNebraska, which kept me somewhat sane. As I wandered out of the fog of mourning my 10 year marriage was very rocky. When I woke up I realized I had to help myself and I started to climb the mountain of self awareness and personal growth.
Somehow we made our way back to Oklahoma, always my comfortable place, and life leveled out for the next eight years. The marriage never got better but it was tolerable. Nursing again came to my rescue as I became the Head Nurse of Evening Emergency Surgery at BaptistMemorialHospital, in NW Oklahoma City. My crew and I were on call from 7:00p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday which earned me the tongue in cheek title of“The Baptist Call Girl.”
My experience in PTA leadership led me to my next mountain. I was given the opportunity to open my own business, a new Tag Agency in NW Oklahoma City. I had never been in business before but I still believed what my mother had told me and the State of Oklahoma believed it too and appointed me as an Oklahoma Motor License Agent. I owned and managed that business for 17 years. In that time, I divorced, was elected to the Board of Education of the new Vocational School, named the Francis Tuttle Technology Center, in NW Oklahoma County, became a knowledgeable and appreciated lobbyist and political consultant, finished the Legal Assistant course at the OU Law School, raised three children to adulthood, served 10 years on the Oklahoma Vocational Education Advisory Council, 3 years as Chairman, served on the Central Oklahoma Muscular Dystrophy Board, emceed the local portion of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon for 3 years, served on the Oklahoma State Schools Board Board of Directors, the National School Boards Federal Relations Network and became a grandmother.
In 1992 I sold the Tag Agency, divorced politics and went to college. I finished my bachelors and my masters programs in 33 months. I was invited to teach Organizational Leadership at my alma mater and found another calling. I started my own consulting firm and had clients all over Oklahoma and some in Texas.
After being single for 21 years I met and married a true partner in life. Jack Rhodes, is a clinical hypnotherapist and we combined our strengths and began to work and study together. He completed his PhD in Behavioral Science and I finished course work for my PhD in Nutritional Science. Along with a partner we developed and licensed a PrivateVocational School in Norman where we taught Nutritional Science and Hypnosis. We had several weekend rental cottages near Lake of the Arbuckles. We tried to retire on Galveston Island but in 2005 Hurricane Rita changed our minds and we made it back to Oklahoma City, still my comfortable place. I was appointed to a vacant seat on the Francis Tutle Board of Education, resumed teaching at Southern Nazarene University and lobbying at the Oklahoma Legislature.
About two years ago we were introduced to an energy psychology modality we call "TaPPing", it has become the focus of both our practices in Oklahoma City. We founded the Rhodes Center for Self Improvement together in 2008. Jack works alot with youths in sports and we both concentrate on helping our clients recognize their Personal Potential.
